Insert Printer™ is a suite of Hypercard stacks which will print inserts for CDs, DATs, and cassettes. It is primarily designed for use by recording studios, but can be used by individuals as well. It was written primarily for users of Digidesign's Masterlist CD™ software.
What do I need to run Insert Printer™?
Hypercard 2.0 or later (or Hypercard Player), 2-3 meg in RAM, a color Macintosh, and a printer. [NOTE: You will probably need to allocate more memory to Hypercard for Insert Printer™ to load properly. Do this by highlighting the Hypercard application and selecting "Get Info" in the Finder. Change the preferred memory size to 2500 or higher.]
How do I install Insert Printer™?
Simply put the Insert Printer™ folder into your stacks folder (or wherever you want to keep it). The only requirement is that all of the Insert Printer™ files and stacks are located in the same folder.
Is Insert Printer™ made by Digidesign?
No. Insert Printer™ is shareware written to work with Digidesign software, but it is not endorsed by or affiliated with Digidesign in any way.
How can I print without "DEMO VERSION" all over my inserts?
This version of Insert Printer™ is a demo, to be used for evaluation purposes only. To receive a working version of Insert Printer™, please fill out the enclosed Registration form and send it along with payment to Studio B.
What does the "info" button do?
Insert Printer™ allows you to enter company information if you would like that information printed on your inserts. If you don't want any info on your inserts, simply leave the "ACME Explosives" data alone.
How do I import a file from Masterlist CD™?
First, while in Masterlist CD™, export your file as text. You may export either the Masterlist window or the PQ window, Insert Printer™ doesn't care. [But the file MUST be 'Tab' delimited. If it is 'comma-delimited' or 'space delimited' it will not import properly.] Now, in Insert Printer™, choose the "Import" button and point it to your file.
When I import, it asks me if I want to "auto-adjust" the total time. What is that? Should I?
When printing a CD, Masterlist requires 2 seconds to be added to the front of the program for technical reasons. Because of this, though, the total time it exports is off by 2 seconds. The 'auto-adjust' feature will fix this for you if you like. You may also do it later by using the "Adjust" button. [BTW: Insert Printer™ assumes that Masterlist CD™ is exporting times using CD frames. If you keep Masterlist CD™ set to SMPTE or milliseconds, be sure to change it before you export your file, or Insert Printer™ won't round off your times correctly!]
